Need to paint a wrought iron railing or fence???

There really is no easy way to do it, but there is a trick to make it a little easier.  You can purchase a painter’s mitt or use an old sock over your hand.  First, put on a rubber/latex glove, place the mitt over it and dip into your paint can.  Then wipe down the rails.  Make sure you use a drop cloth as it can get pretty messy if you put too much paint on the mitt.  You can also pour a small amount of paint on the mitt to control the mess a little better.  BTW, make sure you sand and remove any rust or deteriorated areas first.

Ever wonder which material is the longest lasting for a roof???

The estimated life expectancy of some of the more popular roofing products are:

Asphalt/Fiberglass........20-30 or more years
Wood Shakes................15-30 or more years
Metal............................20-50 years
Clay/Concrete Tile........50 or more years
Slate Tile.......................50-100 or more years

As an added note, there are certainly some products available with design life expectancies that exceed those stated here.  If you are considering any one of these products, you might want to look at the manufacturer’s statement of life expectancy to see how your choice measures up.

Of course, a number of factors will affect the performance of any roofing product, including installation, quality of manufacture, weather conditions and ongoing maintenance.
