Worried about freezing water pipes??? Keep these tips in mind:
Make sure all vents and windows are closed. Sounds simple enough, right? You would be surprised!!
Insulate the pipes with pre-formed foam insulation tubes, available at most home improvement centers.
Keep the home heated, even if the furnace is set to 50 degrees - it’s better than no heat at all.
Draining and turning the water off at the meter will help but keep in mind there is still water in the pipes up to the meter.
DO NOT use a torch or open flame to thaw the pipes. No matter how careful you might think you are, there is still considerable risk.
When in doubt leave it to a professional plumber or call for a maintenance home inspection for more tips and guidance.
