Now that we have had our first snow fall of the season…
As snow starts to accumulate and temperatures fall, ice will undoubtedly start to form on sidewalks, steps and even in the gutters at the edge of your roof. Dealing with the ice on the sidewalks and steps is fairly easy and routine; the gutters though – not so easy.
Here’s a trick you can try … At the first hint ice is starting to form in your gutters, find an old pair of pantyhose and fill them with eco-friendly ice melt pellets. Tie the hose off in sections so it forms something like a tube or sausage links (so all the pellets don’t accumulate in one end). Next place the filled hose in your gutter channel(s).
Obviously, you will want to exercise great care and caution when using a ladder in ugly weather.
Time to 'Green-Up'
Use exhaust fans appropriately, consider using a timer to allow for automatic shut-off. In just one hour, they can remove a houseful of warmed or cooled air.
