A Word About Snow Shovels …
So we’ve all done it. The Don Paul screams for a ton of snow and first thing we do is to make sure we have a “snow shovel.”
I gotta tell you, most every shovel I have ever owned wasn’t very good at its job. And it had nothing to do with the operator. Usually, the plastic is too wimpy for anything compacted or for our infamous wet snow or, or the metal edge becomes useless after one or two uses.
Time and again, I have found my best snow shovel wasn’t a snow shovel at all. It is what’s called a “grain scoop”. They’re available in most home centers and hardware stores.
You can get them in metal or plastic construction. I’m old school and like the metal scoops. I also use the shovel in my home improvement projects, too. It’s ideal for scooping big messes into the trash can and it can also double as the best dustpan ever. No kidding. This is no snow job.
Time to 'Green-Up'
Americans buy an estimated 34.6 billion single-serving (1 liter or less) plastic water bottles each year. Almost eight out of ten end up in a landfill or incinerator. Hundreds of millions end up as litter on roads and beaches or in streams and other waterways. Taxpayers pay hundreds millions of dollars each year in disposal and litter cleanup costs.
