Smart Tips for Home Owners

Faced with unsightly oil stains on your driveway…

They can ruin the appearance of your driveway and set a bad first impression.  To remove these stains from concrete, you may need to work the affected area a number of times to be effective.

Try this method:

Use ordinary liquid dish soap, hot water and a nylon bristle brush.  First wet the affected area, next squirt liquid dish soap (I personally prefer Dawn) on the area and third, using the nylon bristle brush, work the stain, creating a thick lather.  After each effort, absorb the excess lather with an old towel or kitty litter.  Do not wash off with a hose, the resulting run-off could contaminate ground water and damage landscaping.

Dispose of the towels and kitty litter in an environmentally responsible manner.  Continue the process until the stain has been removed
