A few tips about Radon Gas Testing...

  • Even in the summer, when the mercury rises, closed house conditions have to be maintained before and during a radon test.  That means all windows and doors, on all levels MUST remain closed.  Normal entry and exit is permitted.
  • Window air conditioners and fans cannot be used during closed house conditions.

  • Opening a window during a test can actually cause the results to be higher by creating a vacuum and sucking higher amounts of radon into the home.
  • Just because a home doesn’t have a basement doesn’t mean a radon test isn’t necessary.  Some of the highest levels we have encountered came from homes without  a basement.

  • The EPA recommends performing a radon test every two (2) years.

Do you plan on painting the house this year???

Keep in mind, long and low houses look best with colors that emphasize vertical elements like doors and shutters.

Tall and narrow homes should emphasize horizontal elements such as fascia trim and gutters.

Time to 'Green-Up'

Keep your house cooler and A/C bills down by closing shades/curtains and windows on the south side of your home during the day.

Going green isn’t just for the home, you can become greener at work as well.  Instead of using fax machines, why not digitize – scan your documents and email instead, then store electronically.
